Project Description: 1) Students will have ten Service-Learning Journal Entries and 2) a service learning project and presentation. The service learning project will be to identify something that would enhance the experience of the disabled children and to complete a project that addresses this objective. The purpose of the experience is to help students gain a substantially more sophisticated understanding of how genetic abnormalities manifest in real life. In addition, they should become more comfortable with the genetically disabled population, a particularly important skill in careers such as a biology teacher, physician, pharmacist, dentist, and other service-oriented occupations related to the Biology degree.
