Summer 2012 Financial Aid:
Sacramento State requires you to file both a FAFSA and a separate summer financial aid application.
The summer financial aid application is available by clicking here. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units to qualify for most aid programs.
- You should file both the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov to maximize your summer financial aid eligibility.
- The summer financial aid application will be available between April 16th through June 22th, 2012.
- Be sure to update your current address and/or phone number on your My Sac State account if it will change for the summer.
Summer Financial Aid Disbursements
Disbursements will occur during the first week of the last course start date in which you are enrolled. For example, if you are registered for a course beginning May 21st and a course beginning July 09th, you will not receive your aid until the week of July 09th. Financial aid checks will be mailed to your current address on your My Sac State account. To get your money faster, sign up for eRefund at www.csus.edu/sfsc/.

Check Disbursement/Scheduled Disbursement for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012
Get your money faster! Sign up for eRefund. eRefund is the process in which refunds are deposited directly into any bank account. Log into your MySacState account and navigate to your Student Center to enroll.
The Scheduled Disbursement date is the earliest date the Financial Aid Office is allowed to begin the check disbursement process and not the actual date you will receive your check. If your funds have been received from the appropriate federal, state, or private agency and you have no holds, the earliest you can expect your Fall 2011 check is around August 29 and your Spring 2012 check is around January 23.
Thereafter, throughout the semester, disbursements will typically occur once per week. Funds are disbursed and released electronically on Thursday morning for those enrolled in eRefund. Paper checks are processed on Thursdays and Fridays and will be mailed by the following Monday at 1:00 pm.
Most Commonly Asked Questions
- I have a Financial Aid Hold, how do I clear it?
Financial aid holds do not prevent registration. Check your MySacState Student Center for Holds. Refer to How to Clear Holds for more information.
- Do I have a fee deferment and when are tuition fees due?
Check your MySacState Messages to see if you have a fee deferment. Fee deferments postpone your tuition fee payment deadline. You must complete all To Do List items and take care of any Holds or your financial aid will not disburse. Your tuition fees must be paid either by your financial aid disbursement or with your own funds by February 3, 2012 to avoid having your enrollment cancelled. Please note that the fee due date on your MySacState will not change.
- What happened to my Cal Grant?
The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) has recently changed their Cal Grant awarding procedures. If you are currently a Cal Grant A or Cal Grant B (Fees) recipient and drop from full-time (12+ units) to either three-quarter time (9–11 units) or half-time (6–8 units), your award will be reduced. Below are the award amounts:
| Enrollment Status |
Amount Per Term |
| Full-time (12+ units) |
$2736.00 |
| Three-quarter time (9–11 units) |
$2052.00 |
| Half-time (6–8 units) |
$1368.00 |
The Cal Grant B (Access) award procedures will remain the same.
Additionally, CSAC has placed holds on some Cal Grant recipients who must now provide Asset Information to CSAC, and we are placing holds on these funds until CSAC has received the Asset Form and determined student eligibility.
If you have any specific questions regarding the Cal Grant Award process, please contact the California Student Aid Commission at (888) 224-7268 or visit their website at https://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov.
