Transfer Admission Requirements

    • Fall 2010
      • Open to first time freshmen and upper division transfer students only October 1 – November 30.
      • Closed to lower division transfers and second baccalaureate students.

Lower division transfer requirements:

You will qualify as a lower division transfer student if you:

Upper division transfer requirements:

You will qualify as a upper division transfer student if you:
  • Complete a minimum of 60 transferable semester or 90 quarter units
  • Have at least a 2.0 GPA as a California resident or 2.4 GPA as a non-resident
  • Be in good standing at the last college or university attended
  • Complete 30 units which meet CSU general education requirements with a "C-" or better. These units must include the following courses:
    1. (A1) Oral Communication/Speech
    2. (A2) Written English Composition (ENGL 1A at Sacramento State)
    3. (A3) Critical Thinking/Logic **
    4. (B4) Math/Quantitative Reasoning (which is above the level of intermediate algebra)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Summer may NOT be used to complete admissions requirements for Fall Admission i.e. gpa, total units, Areas A and B4. All requirements must be met by the end of the Spring semester.

Fall may NOT be used to complete admissions requirements for Spring Admissions i.e. gpa, total units, Areas A and B4. All requirements must be met by the end of the summer session.

** Transfer students applying for admission to Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering do not need the Critical Thinking course because it is incorporated into the major requirements.
